FAQ – About our pet taxi service:
What is a pet taxi?
Pet taxis help owners who are unable to transport their pets to the veterinarian, groomer, boarding facility, doggy daycare, the airport, or anywhere else they need to be taken. Individual love and attention is our main focus. We are particularly focused on getting your pet to the desired destination SAFELY.
What type of experience do you have?
Connie has been a veterinary technician for the past 20 years and is used to treating and caring for different pets. She has been pet sitting dogs, cats, rabbits, and small pets for the past 10 years as well. She is also a very safe driver.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes, our pet taxi, pet sitting, and dog walking services are bonded and insured through Pet Sitters Associates. We have commercial vehicle insurance. We are also members of Pet Sitters International.
Which areas do you serve?
We provide service to and from the Carpinteria, Santa Barbara, and Goleta areas.
Can we meet you and then decide if we need your services?
We would love to set up a complimentary meet-and-greet appointment with you in order to discuss your pet’s needs. We love pets and this way you can judge if they like us, too, and if it’s a good fit. We can answer your questions and, of course, you are under no obligation to use our services. We can help you fill out the necessary paperwork, too. We hope to make this an easy and stress-free process.
How will you transport my pet(s)?
We use our Mazda minivan which is specially equipped for pets and is a comfortable, safe, and reliable vehicle.
Kitties, bunnies, and small pets ride in cozy carriers that are fastened and secured to the vehicle’s seat using the seatbelt and extra secure straps. We can provide a carrier for your pet, or use your pet carrier if you wish, but we never use cardboard carriers for safety reasons. We can put in their favorite toy or an item of your clothing to comfort them during the journey. We find playing classical music helps soothe and calm most pets.
Small dogs can go into carriers like the ones mentioned above. Dogs can be provided with auto security harnesses which are sized and fitted to the dog’s body before the journey. The comfy harness is then hooked securely to the seat with safety straps and fasteners. We can also provide a booster seat for smaller dogs. Some dogs may be more comfortable in the back of our van and they also are comfortably restrained with a security strap for their safety. SAFETY is our number one goal.
Can I ride along with my pet?
Unfortunately we do not have a livery/taxi license to transport humans. Sorry!
May I place my pet(s) personally in your van before the journey?
Of course! In this way you can see how and where he or she will be traveling. This can be reassuring to you and your pet.
What if my pet becomes ill on the way to the destination?
We will make every effort to ensure your pet(s) arrives in a happy and healthy condition. Occasionally nervous pets may vomit when being transported usually due to motion sickness. Sometimes they urinate or defecate during the journey which is often due to nervousness. Rest assured that we carry an emergency first aid kit in the vehicle. In an emergency circumstance, which is very rare, we will phone you first, then phone your veterinarian and follow their instructions on the way to the clinic. We are Pet First Aid and CPR certified through PetTech and the Red Cross.
How will I know if my pet has arrived safely at the destination?
According to your wishes, we can phone you or text you on the number you provide once we reach the destination. This way you can rest assured that your pet is in good hands and has arrived safely.
How do I pay the destination facility?
We prefer that you arrange payment directly with the facility. Or, if you like, we can deliver a check to the facility (no cash) or give them the payment information on your behalf.
